Planning Particulars

When you meet with your advisor, the two of you will discuss your major, review the current schedule of courses, and plan your schedule for the upcoming term, and maybe even one or more future terms, based on the courses required for your major.

To keep up with the courses you have taken and the courses you will need to take, fill out the appropriate Degree Plan form (links provided below) each term after you have successfully completed each course. By keeping this form up-to-date and conferring with your advisor during preregistration each term, you will make steady progress toward completing your degree and program of study.

If you know you will be transferring to a four-year college or university in Alabama, you can access the STARS System to see which courses at Jefferson Davis will transfer for your major. Your advisor will also be able to help you.

Again, if you fill out the Degree Plan form and keep it updated as you progress through your first and second year at Jefferson Davis, you will be assured of taking the right courses required for your major.

Here, in brief, are the steps to follow:

  • Review the Programs of Study  section of the College Catalog.
  • Select a major area from the Programs of Study listed above.
  • Review the courses required for your major (and the recommended time sequence for those courses) in the Course Listing section of the Catalog.
  • For help or answers to questions, contact your advisor or the Registrar's Office.
