Online Testing Center Information
The JDCC Testing Centers are designed to allow students the flexibility to complete online course exams without the inconvenience of meeting with the course instructor at a specific time and place. Online instructors will notify students if they are to take tests in a testing center. If you are not sure whether to use a testing center, then refer to your course syllabus for guidance or contact the course instructor. Special instructions, such as time limits, may be applicable. See your syllabus or instructor for details.
Location of Testing Centers:
There are three testing centers on the JDCC campuses. Public libraries are not testing centers. The following are locations and hours of operations for the JDCC testing centers:
Brewton Campus Leigh Library: Monday-Friday, During Operating Hours
Brewton Campus Learning Lab, Wallace Building: By Appointment (call 251.809.1514)
Atmore Campus Library: By Appointment (call 251.368.7610)
Testing Center Rules:
Students will be permitted access to a testing center only (1) if they are on the course roll, (2) present a valid JDCC school ID, and (3) visit during hours of operation. Students attempting to take an exam at times other than the normal hours of operation will need to come during the scheduled time!
Students will not be allowed to take any of the following items into a testing center: books, book bags, purses, cell phones, i-pods, recording devices, pens, pencils, paper, cameras, or other study materials. Testing center proctors may ask a student to leave if he or she has any of these items. It is best to leave all of the above items at home or in the car. If a student is caught with any of these items, then it will be construed as academic dishonesty and the incident will be reported to the instructor. Students will not be allowed to talk to other students in the testing area. Students will not be allowed to leave the test site once the test has started. If a student leaves to use the restroom or take care of other business, then the test will expire and the testing center proctor will not be able to re-set the test.
No food or drinks will be allowed in the testing area.
Testing Center Disclaimer:
The testing centers reserve the right to turn away any student who does not adhere to the rules. The testing centers may experience early closings or altered hours due to inclement weather, power outages, technical difficulties, or personnel emergencies. If deadlines are altered or extended, it will be at the discretion of each individual instructor. See the instructor's course syllabus regarding his/her policy.
Students are advised to follow the *24 Hour Rule when preparing to take a test so as to not miss a deadline due to such issues listed above. If a student has a question specific to a course, then he or she should contact the course instructor for guidance, not ask the testing center proctor.
Students, when in doubt, read your SYLLABUS!!! Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on our part.
* 24 Hour Rule: Complete all assignments 24 hours before they are due! This will alleviate most problems. If you wait until a few hours before a deadline, there could be a power outage or technical issue. Your instructor has 24 hours (school hours, not weekends) to respond to any questions or concerns that you have. Don't back yourself into a corner or miss a deadline by waiting until the last minute! Remember...do assignments 24 hours before they are due and give your instructor 24 hours to respond to you before seeking other advice. |
